Soybean event A2704-12 has been genetically modified to express enzyme phosphinothricin N-acetyl transferase (PAT) which confers tolerance to glufosinate-ammonium herbicide. According to the existing scientific data and information available during the safety assessment, it is concluded that the soybean event A2704-12 is not different from the conventional counterpart soybean in terms of phenotype, food safety (toxicity and allergenicity), as well as nutritional profile form soybean counterpart. However, the risk assessment should be addressed if the information is changed.
